SGR - Walks information

Walks > General Walks Information

Our Walks programme is published three times a year, includes details of all events, and is kept up-to-date on-line to reflect any changes. Members are informed of changes by email. Our Newsletters list all events and contain other news for our members.

For almost all weekend walks, we meet at the Civic Center upper car park, Fields Road, Newport, NP20 5BJ to depart at 9:30 am. The meeting place is the same for weekday walks, but the departure time is 7.30pm. Anyone can join us for a walk as long as they think they are up to the grade. We encourage you to join Ramblers Association after coming on a few trial walks. For directions to the meeting place and parking arrangements, click here.

Occasionaly, walks will start at different places, or at different times. All such changes are usually notified to members by e-mail and in the WALKS NOTES in Walks programme page. Any extra information or requrements for a particular walk will be notified in the same way.

The walks are graded by their distance in miles and their vigour. Note that some lower grade walks may still be tiring if they are over a long distance. All walks other than Easy Access or Easy walks are day walks unless otherwise stated in the Walks programme or a Newsletter.

The RA have set up a Walk Finder - a database accessible on-line to help you find a Group-led walk that suits you. Most RA groups now include their walks in the RA Walk Finder.
